Individual Differences in Deepfake Detection

This program of research involves a series of projects in which we seek to identify psychological traits that predict one’s ability to detect deepfake videos. To date we have identified affect detection, political orientation, fluid intelligence, and cognitive reflection as meaningful predictors of deepfake detection. To investigate these questions we are using a dataset of deepfake videos provided by Google/Jigsaw.
